“My jealous anger is on fire against these nations” Ezekiel 36:5
God is speaking to Israel about its relationship with other nations. These nations have led Israel astray, they have attacked them from all sides, and now they are mocking them. In doing so the Lord says they have shown “utter contempt” for Him. It is interesting to see the Lord’s reaction to those who come against His people. In mocking His people they are consequently mocking God himself.
The Lord spoke this passage to me tonight and I believe He has the same feeling for me today as He had for Israel all that time ago. Some times I am led astray (or I think it is more like I go of my own free will), and some times I am attacked (satan knows my weaknesses). I am mocked, not by people, but I believe by the devil who, at times, must be having a great laugh at my expense. However God was speaking to me tonight that He has had enough, that He has jealous anger for me. How amazing is that, that God is jealous for me; that He sees the things I do and He gets angry because He wants me for Himself. God’s eternal word is that He has come to redeem, and I thank Him that He loves me so much to want to fight for me, to die for me. I thank God that He is speaking to me when my ears seem so closed and my heart so hard and dry. He is faithful and may He be glorified in me.
