So I was reading Exodus this morning (well behind on my yearly reading plan) and once again read something I had never realised. Before I go into that … how much does Moses moan?!?!? God appears and speaks to him from a buring bush, shows he some neat miracles he can do, and yet Moses is still like, “well … erm … i’m not that good at speaking”. Moses was so full of buts that it says “the Lord’s anger burned against Moses” (4:14). Shows that God does use the foolish things of this world. How many of us would have given up on Moses long ago?
The thing that jumped out at me though was the fact that after Moses packed his bags and was on his way back to Egypt the “Lord confronted Moses and was about to kill him” (4:24). It doesn’t say why except that then Moses’ wife, Zipporah, circumcised their son (throwing the foreskin at Moses’ feet) and the Lord left him alone. I guess this was something Moses knew he should have already done and God was not about to let him start off this mission on dodgy foundations. Yet another thing I never knew.

Daniel, servant of the living God! Was your God, whom you worship continually, able to rescue you from the lions?
