I had the opportunity to speak at church on Sunday morning. I had this title “Living Daily without Sin” for a couple of months, so there had been lots of thoughts and note taking in preparation. However what I found was that everytime I tried to actually construct the sermon I was running into brick walls, either getting confused by the maze which is Paul’s epistle to the Romans or just not feeling right about the direction it was going (if I managed to find one).
So about 11:30pm on Saturday I was on my knees praying, laying it all before God and desperately seeking for His word and wisdom for the issue. What then transpired was a revelation as the key to the sermon and about 2.5 hours of solid writing (basically dictating the sermon to myself). So Sunday morning came and went and it all went really well. I got lots of people (more than usual) encouraging me about how good it was/how God had spoken to them so that was a good sign. What I was thinking was that I would type up the sermon and ‘release’ it here on my blog for any interested parties to read. When I do, comments are welcome but I would appreciate the understanding that not every angle of such a subject can be covered in what turned out to be an hour sermon (so I’m basically asking for grace while not wanting to rule out discussion). So I hope to put the first part out tomorrow, so stay tuned!
