Ok, so i’ve only been a Dad for 2 and a half weeks, but I’m learning fast and probably gathering more questions than I get answered. So here are a few things I am thinking about:

Crying - I am not good and hearing my son cry. When he does I just want to pick him up. Now you hear different thoughts on this but personally I want to just find the right balance. I don’t want a clingy child that can’t exist more than a metre away from his parents, but I don’t want my son to feel neglected. At least he has a good cry, there are some i’ve heard from kids that would drive me mental.

Standing up - why is it that babies like it when you stand up when you are holding them? They much prefer this to the same holding position sitting down. Is it just punishment? My legs were aching yesterday.

Changing nappies - I don’t mind changing nappies, although apparently I’m not very good at doing this (a cunning ploy! hahaha)

Good looks - Do all parents think their kid is good looking and are some people just deceiving themselves? I wonder also if this is linked to narcisism in some way, you like your kid because he looks like you

4am - I don’t mind being up at 4am to feed my son. The problem comes when he has finished and then just looks at you with blue eyes wide open. I say to him, “this is where we both go back to sleep now” but I don’t think he understands english yet (I blame his mother’s mixed roots). Thankfully Louisa does most of these feeds as I need to get up for work at 7. I do the feed then and try and let her sleep, it doesn’t always work.

Baths - My boy loves baths. I am greatly relieved at that as I look forward to taking him swimming.
